In order to become a member of the Grand Rapids Rotary Club, a current, active member of the organization must sponsor you. Once you achieve sponsorship, members are invited in confidence to express any concerns they may have. Your nomination will then be reviewed by our classification committee, which considers the character, business, leadership and general eligibility of each individual.
In addition, the committee weighs your potential based on classification by business or profession. This increases the likelihood of selecting the most qualified representative from each vocational group, while the total membership remains an accurate reflection of the community. Finally, if no issues are encountered, the Board of Directors votes to accept your membership and you are inducted into the Club.
Once you have passed the nomination process and become a member, you will be responsible to participate in and financially support the organization and its charities in the following ways:
New members are asked to pay a one-time initiation fee of $300. Dues totaling $230 are paid quarterly and include the full cost of lunches, a weekly copy of our Spokes, official newsletter and an annual subscription to Rotarian magazine, published by Rotary International.
