The Rotary Club of Grand Rapids Charities Foundation helps challenged youth in the greater Grand Rapids area by providing or supporting programs focused on offering them the guidance and positive experiences they need during this critical time in their lives.
Originally co-founded and supported by the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids since 1952, Indian Trails Camp provides a recreational camping experience for children and adults with special needs.
This motivational program is open to Creston and Ottawa Hills high school seniors who are academically ranked in the lower one-third of their senior class, but who wish to improve their academic standing and life skills. Rotarians in this committee make a weekly commitment to serve as mentors. College scholarships and supplemental summer income are provided to qualified STRIVE mentees.
Each year Grand Rapids Rotary Charities Foundation sponsors high school students at the Life Leadership Conference in Northern Michigan, and the World Affairs Seminar at the University of Wisconsin. In addition, we encourage Foreign Exchange Programs that promote more understanding between young people from different nations.
The Grand Rapids Rotary Charities Foundation also supports youth programs that have a proven track record of leadership and life skill training. These include the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, YMCA and YWCA.
